When we think of Manmohan Singh, the image of a calm, composed leader often comes to mind. Known for steering India through economic liberalization, Singh was also a figure of many contradictions. Behind his soft-spoken demeanor lay a leader whose tenure was marked by both groundbreaking achievements and significant controversies. As we reflect on his journey, three controversial aspects of his leadership stand out.

in all the line referring him as Mr. Singh, it should be replaced by Dr. Singh Pramit.b.dutta (talk) 17:17, 11 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: per MOS:CREDENTIAL: the subject is not widely known as "Dr. Singh". M.Bitton (talk) 17:49, 11 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not done We do not use honorifics per WP:NCIN MOS:DOC unless it is part of the article name/WP:COMMONNAME. If the article name contained "Dr." as a prefix then we had to use it. Quotes in the article that are taken verbatim are exceptions. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 13:02, 27 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Why do we rely on consensus? I thought we would rely on the individual person himself, as he is dead and this is a memorial for him, in many ways. I would love to hear the reasoning behind this. SimpleSubCubicGraph (talk) 01:22, 29 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia is not a one-person blog but an encyclopedia supposed edited by a community of users who agree to set common standards to prevent edit-warring and make articles readable by all and not just singular individuals users with varied and sometimes ridiculous whims. 08:26, 29 December 2024 (UTC) Borgenland (talk) 08:26, 29 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The word 're-elected' should be changed to 're-appointed' in last line of 1st paragraph, as the Prime Minister of India is appointed by the president. Riteze (talk) 09:59, 27 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: no evidence provided. It shall remain re-elected until further evidence is provided. 🗽Freedoxm🗽(talkcontribs) 02:25, 28 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It is mentioned in Constitution of India's article 75(1) on page 34. Riteze (talk) 10:34, 28 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Request to update Manmohan Singh's infobox picture

[edit]

The current file on the infobox (the official portrait) is over 21 years of age. This image, File:Prime_Minister_Dr._Manmohan_Singh_in_March_2014.jpg, shows a more recent image. Should we remove the official portrait and replace it with this one? 🗽Freedoxm🗽(talkcontribs) 00:17, 28 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

How recent an image is is no longer relevant now that the subject of the article is deceased. Even then, with high office holders like PMs, Presidents, VPs, etc. we use official portraits regardless of how old they are. Look at Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, Kevin Rudd, etc. Look at Mr. Singh's predecessor, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, his official portrait is from 1998 but it captures him during his time in office and is years old.
